Broccoli is a vegetable that originates from the Mediterranean region, and was first cultivated by the Romans in modern-day Italy. Interestingly enough, broccoli isn't actually a naturally occuring vegetable; rather, after decards of careful planning, the Romans were able to engineer a new, better vegetable. Pretty cool, right?
